Two hospitalized in I-71 car crash

BRUNSWICK — A driver and passenger were hospitalized after a one-car accident Tuesday night on Interstate 71 south. Brunswick Hills Fire Chief Anthony Strazzo said speeding is believed to be a factor in the accident. He added that one person was transported to Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center by LifeFlight. The other was taken to Southwest Hospital in Middleburg Heights. Strazzo said it was unclear if seat belts were being worn. The names of the individuals have not yet been released. Brunswick Hills, Brunswick and Strongsville emergency crews responded to the scene at 6:30 p.m., along with the State Highway Patrol. The scene took approximately 45 minutes to clear, with two lanes being closed during that time. Strazzo urged the public to take heed of accidents like this and practice caution while driving. "In the last week, week and a half, we've had three serious accidents on 71, all speed related or distracted-driving related," Strazzo said.
