Cloverleaf plans construction update meeting Saturday Cloverleaf Schools will hold another public engagement session for students, parents, staff, alumni and members of the public to offer an update on Cloverleaf construction projects led by GPD Group architects of Akron. The meeting will takes place 9 a.m. Saturday at Cloverleaf Elementary School, 8337 Friendsville Road, Westfield Township. Attendees will receive updates and have the opportunity to ask questions and give input. Topics include athletic facility project update, NEXUS funding update and sixth to eighth grade addition/renovation options. Masks are required for those attending in person. St. Ambrose teacher receives national award Kelly Thompson, a first-grade teacher at St. Ambrose Catholic School in Brunswick, recently was one of three teachers in the country to receive the annual Lead. Learn. Proclaim. Award through the National Catholic Education Association. "It means the world," Thompson said. "I was surprised not only to receive the award, but to even be nominated. It's very humbling. It feels so good because you do so much for the kids. You feel like some stuff gets unnoticed and you do so much stuff in the classroom that parents don't realize you're doing. It feels really good to be recognized and honored in such a way." Thompson only began teaching first grade this year and did so voluntarily, something St. Ambrose Principal Lisa Cinadr said sets her apart. "It is said that adversity reveals character," Cinadr said in a school news release. "Mrs. Thompson came to me two weeks before we started the 2020-21 school year asking to move to a then-vacated first grade teaching position. Her faith, vision and willingness to give the best for each of her students and our school family are what challenge and inspire her. We are blessed by the strength and excellence of Mrs. Thompson and also our entire faculty who work tirelessly to provide everything for every student every day." Brunswick yearbook gets national recognition Brunswick High School's 2019 yearbook recently was featured in Jostens' Look Book — a promotional idea book that goes out to all their schools nationwide. Only the strongest publications get selected to be featured in this book.
