Medina Sunrise Rotary silent auction starts April 14 Due to COVID-19, Medina Sunrise Rotary has decided to hold its 22nd annual Wine and Roses Charity Fundraiser online. The event combines a weeklong silent auction starting Wednesday, April 14, running through Tuesday, April 20, and a fundraiser dinner on April 17. Four local restaurants — 111 Bistro, Santo Sussos, Thyme 2 and Vaccaro Trattria — will provide dinners for the event, offering carryout dinner menus. Dinners will be a combination of fully prepared and take-and-bake meals. Auction items include wine baskets, chef experiences at home and travel destinations. All of the funds from the winning bids go to support the mission of Medina Sunrise Rotary. Dinner tickets are $99 per person. Tickets can be purchased in a group of two or for one person (Vaccaros, Santos Suossos and Thyme 2 are the only restaurants that offer dinner for one). Rapid COVID-19 tests available at library The Medina County District Library is partnering with the Medina County Health Department and Ohio Governor's Office to provide free Abbott BinaxNOW Rapid COVID-19 Antigen At-Home Test Kits to the public. Test kits are available by phone reservation only at all library locations. Patrons must provide a name, email and date of birth upon request to receive a kit. Contact-free distribution will be arranged through curbside or locker service. Rapid tests are not returned to the library. Patrons experiencing COVID-19 symptoms are not to enter the libraries. "Rapid tests are most accurate in diagnosing COVID-19 when symptoms are present," Medina County Health Department Community Relations Specialist Natalie Lonjak said in a statement. "Tests are intended for people who are experiencing symptoms and are not recommended for people who do not have symptoms." Easter Bunny hops through Medina on Saturday The Kiwanis Club of Medina with help from Castle Noel will be escorting the Easter Bunny around the Medina area on Saturday, the day before Easter. The Easter Bunny plans to drop off small bags of candy and wave to the kids. If you would like the Easter Bunny to visit your kids, please send an address as a private message to the Kiwanians Club of Medina on Facebook. Please include the number of children. Once sign-up is complete, organizers will compile a schedule and let families know roughly when to expect the Easter Bunny. To contribute to this project, go to https://www.medinakiwanis.org. Brunswick Rotary offers scholarship The Brunswick Rotary Foundation will be giving four $1,000 scholarships this year to high school seniors to further their education, either in college or in a trade school. Medina High School names April Student of the Month Medina High School junior Olivia Rudd has been named April Student of the Month. She is described as an exceptional young lady who exhibits all the attributes of a future leader. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Medina High School Debate Team, HUDDLE/SHUDDLE, and Junior Leadership Medina County. She is a five-year member of Elite Club National League Soccer Club and a two-year member of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. In her spare time, Olivia volunteers in the Joyce B. Ebner Tutoring Center as a peer tutor. After graduation, Olivia plans on attending college to major in prelaw. She also plans on continuing her soccer career at the collegiate level. Olivia is the daughter of Kerry and Kristie Rudd. Culvert project closes Black River School Road Black River School Road in Homer Township will close for several culvert replacement projects between Camp and Spencer roads.
