Wadsworth natives die in plane crash

WADSWORTH — A February plane crash in Georgia claimed the life of two brothers who grew up in Wadsworth. The crash garnered national headlines after occurring on Feb. 26, roughly two miles from Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville, Georgia. Wadsworth natives Dan Delnoce, 44, and Matthew Delnoce, 39, as well as Courtney Flanders, 45, of Georgia, died in the accident. According to a report from The New York Times, investigators have not determined what caused the single-engine plane to crash into a ravine just outside Atlanta. Visitation for Matthew Delnoce has been listed by Wadsworth's Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home for 6-8 p.m. Monday at The Chapel, 1391 State Rd. Wadsworth. That will be followed by services at 1 p.m. the following day at the same site. The plane, a Cessna 182, was reportedly traveling to Daytona Beach, Florida. A spokesman with the National Transportation Safety Board said the agency was leading the investigation into the crash with help from the Federal Aviation Administration. Gainesville Fire Department officials told local news outlets that it appeared the pilot had turned the plane around and reversed course after taking off. It was also reported that a part from the plane fell on a mobile home and that fuel came down on another residence.
