Wellington family purchases KTS Equipment Jill Ann Schmauch-Sheparovich and James McLaughlin recently finalized the purchase of Wellington-based KTS Equipment, Inc. formerly known as Krystowski Tractor Sales. Schmauch-Sheparovich is a Wellington High School graduate and her daughter, Megan, is a fifth-generation graduate of Wellington. Schmauch-Sheparovich worked for the Krystowski family for over a decade as controller prior to becoming an owner. McLaughlin is a U.S. Air Force veteran with more than 25 years of sales experience. KTS Equipment is located at 47117 State Route 18, Wellington. Medina Kiwanis receives grant dollars The All Ohio eMedina Kiwanis Club was awarded $1,000 from The Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation to support three projects. The Medina Breakfast Kiwanis Club was awarded $500. The club will use the funds to support Living Inspired Home Reading Program for Kids 4 and under and Cups Café. Medina Breakfast Kiwanis also has approved the group's annual donation to the Boy Scouts ($500), Boys State ($300) and Girls State ($275), as well as $1,000 to SHC/ARC to support its fundraising program. The Kiwanis donation will be matched by a donor. The Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation started its grant program to help support local clubs' service projects during the pandemic. Project: Learn brings dinner theater home Project: LEARN of Medina County is holding a murder mystery dinner theater unlike anything they've done before. Participants can enjoy a live murder mystery from the comfort of their home, performed by Enigma Entertainment starting at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. To get the full dinner theater experience, the Blue Heron Brewery and Event Center in Montville Township will offer a filet mignon takeout dinner. Ordered dinners will be available for pickup between 4-6:30 p.m. the night of the show. Tickets are $50 for dinner for two plus the show, or $100 for a dinner for six plus the show. Hospice looking for volunteers Hospice of the Western Reserve is looking for volunteers to join its navigator programs to provide support to individuals who are facing a life limiting or terminal illness wherever they consider home. Volunteers are an essential part of the clinical team. Now more than ever volunteers are needed to support patients through phone calls, sending cards and virtual visits. Troopers investigating pedestrian fatal on US 42 JACKSON TWP. — Troopers are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on US Route 42 near Mile Post 19 in Ashland County. A pedestrian was in the left lane of southbound US Route 42 when he was struck by a 2013 Hyundai Veloster. The pedestrian, Brett Michael Lycans, 30, of West Salem, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ashland County Coroner's Office. The driver of the Hyundai, Michael Eugene Cottrill Jr., 20, of Shelby, was not injured and remained on scene. US Route 42 was closed for approximately 3 hours. The crash remains under investigation, however, the driver of the Hyundai is not considered at fault. Impairment of the pedestrian is believed to be a possible factor. — from staff reports
