Medina man dies in Lafayette Township crash

LAFAYETTE TWP. — A 34-year-old Medina man was killed just around 1 p.m. Thursday after he was involved in a two-vehicle crash on state Route 162, near Ryan Road. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash that killed Curtis Perkins. His 2006 Ford Fusion collided with a 2020 Kenworth tractor trailer. Both vehicles suffered severe damage. The patrol's Medina Dispatch Center received a call at 12:28 p.m. about a two-vehicle crash on state Route 162. After troopers arrived on the scene, the semi was off the north side of the road and the Fusion off the south side. The Fusion, which was traveling on 162, went left of center and collided head-on with the truck, the patrol said in a news release. Perkins was pronounced dead at the scene. His is the son of Curtis Perkins Sr., owner of C. Martin Trucking in Medina. The driver of the Kenworth was identified as Michael D. Mosely, 55, of Hyndman, Pennsylvania. He was transported by EMS to Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital and had minor injuries. This was the second fatal crash in two days in Medina County. A 55-year-old Brunswick woman was killed in a head-on crash Wednesday in Medina Township. The intersection of Route 162 and Ryan Road was closed by the Ohio Department of Transportation for several hours. At about the same time as the fatal accident, there was an injury crash at South Court Street and Sturbridge Drive in the city of Medina. Also, there was a car pursuit that came into the county from Rittman that ended in Montville Township. Montville police was briefly involved in the pursuit.
