Emma Schulte sworn in as Medina County recorder pro tempore

MEDINA — Emma Schulte was sworn in Tuesday as Medina County recorder pro tempore. The office of county recorder became vacant when Joseph F. Salzgeber took office as Medina Municipal Court's clerk of courts Monday. He was sworn in by Municipal Judge Gary Werner. Ohio Revised Code authorizes the board of county commissioners to appoint a person to hold the office as acting county recorder. Schulte was sworn in Tuesday by Commissioner Colleen Swedyk, formerly the county recorder. The other two commissioners, Steve Hambley and board President Bill Hutson, were also on hand for the ceremony. Schulte was picked since she was the chief deputy officer and has been with the recorder's office for 12 years. She will hold the position until the Medina County Republican Central Committee appoints a replacement. That date has yet to be determined, Schulte said. She said she will not apply for that job. A $10,000 minimum bond requirement is in place in her name by the county's pooled insurance carrier, CORSA.
