New HVAC system installed at Medina City Hall

MEDINA — Medina City Hall received a new heating and cooling system Wednesday, which was mounted on the roof. The new Trane Corp. unit weighs about 12,000 pounds and was lifted to the roof with a crane. It replaces one originally installed in the 1990s and was purchased by city officials with CARES Act funding for a cost of $128,500. "It went very smoothly," Building Inspector Dan Gladish said. "It was a smooth operation." He said the system will provide better air filtration in City Hall, which made it a qualifying purchase for COVID-19 funds. At a later date, the city will replace the 38 thermostats in the building for about $78,000. Gladish said it will take a couple days for the HVAC system to be fully functional. City workers did a lot of the work installing the unit, which helped with the cost. City Council's organizational meeting Wednesday was the first time the new council rotunda was used, which cost about $140,000.
