Property tax bills available online

The 2021 tax bills have been created by the Medina County Auditor's Office and now are available online, county Auditor Mike Kovack said Monday. All Medina County taxpayers can find their tax year 2020 tax bills at www.medinacountyauditor.org. Individuals simply need to go to the "Real Estate" tab on the website and select "Property Search." From there, property owners should select a single field to search for their property. Once the desired property has been found, click the "Tax Bill" tab near the top of the page. New property tax rates for the entire county also have been updated online. These can be found under the "Tax Info" tab on the website. The auditor's tax estimator also has been updated to reflect the new rates for those looking to calculate estimated taxes for the coming year. Taxpayers looking for last year's payment amounts for income tax reporting can also now find that information online. Kovack said it was hard but necessary work for his office to turn around the tax bills so quickly. "This has been a challenging year," Kovack said in a statement. "Not only are we working under COVID restrictions, but the state tax officials are working under restrictions also, with most of them working from home. I anticipated delays this year, but our real estate staff did an excellent job working under very difficult conditions." In general, taxes remained stable or decreased slightly for taxpayers throughout the county. Medina City property owners will see an increase of approximately $32 per $100,000 of valuation due to a 1-mill increase in their ambulance and EMS tax levy. That levy was approved by voters in November 2019. Tax bills have been turned over to the treasurer's office and while no deadline has been announced yet, it is anticipated that tax bills will be due on either Friday, Feb. 5 or Friday, Feb. 12 with a mid-January mailing.
