Medina Bed Bath & Beyond closing in February

MEDINA TWP. — The Medina Township location of Bed Bath & Beyond officially will close its doors for good at the end of February, according to a company spokesperson Dominic Pendry confirmed Wednesday the store, at 4949 Grande Shops Ave., was slated to close. This comes as the company is moving to a more online-friendly model. In July, the company announced plans to undergo a "store optimization plan" in which it will invest $250 million into approximately 450 stores across North America over the next two to three years while also closing about 200 stores over the next two years. Pendry said about 60 percent of those stores are anticipated to close by the end of the current fiscal year in September. "As we build our authority and establish a truly omni-always shopping experience for our customers, we recently announced a store optimization plan that will see us establish the right network of stores to serve our customers," Pendry said in a statement. "This is part of a comprehensive strategy to invest where it matters most to our customers, including the launch of an array of new customer-inspired owned brands next year, and the continual improvement in our omni-always shopping services to make it faster, more convenient and easier than ever to shop with us."
