Maximum Chiropractic makes $5,500 donation to Cups Cafe

MEDINA — In a program designed to give back to the community, Maximum Potential Chiropractic has been celebrating its 12 Days of Giving On Monday, it donated $5,500 to Cups Cafe, which serves hope one cup at a time. The cafe, 126 N. Court St., Medina, is a nonprofit where teenagers — or anyone that needs a meal — can hang out, eat and have someone to talk to. All of the food and drinks are free. "This will help keep our doors open and to feed people," Cups Cafe Executive Director Tim VanArsdale said. "It's very, very kind (of Maximum Chiropractic)." He said during the COVID-19 lockdown, the cafe was extremely busy. It served about 3,000 meals in the two or three months, which includes many home deliveries to shut-ins and the elderly. VanArsdale said Cups Cafe served 117 meals in one day in April. On Thanksgiving, it served 61 meals. A Christmas morning breakfast is in the planning stages. Dr. Matt Hamilton, owner of Maximum Chiropractic, 155 Northland Drive, said the business' philanthropic arm wants to give back to the community. It has also donated $2,500 to Toys for Tots and $500 to Oasis of Hope and will give $1,500 and food to Feeding Medina County Thursday. "We wanted to stay more in our own backyard," Hamilton said. He said the chiropractic firm was hooked up with Cups Cafe through Heartland Church. "Cups Cafe feeds kids and the homeless," practice representative Shannon Swank said. "It was a program we wanted to support that would impact the community the most." Maximum Chiropractic also has an office in Westlake, where it donated to the city's food pantry. In Medina, after the donation to Feeding Medina County, $10,000 will have been given out during its 12 Days of Giving. Swank said there's no better time to give back to the community.
