MetroHealth temporarily closes Medina, Brunswick facilities

MetroHealth System facilities in Medina and Brunswick will be among several temporarily closed due to mounting COVID-19-related staffing shortages. Officials said roughly 100 employees were out sick last week due to the virus and building closures are expected to last until at least the end of the year, MetroHealth media relations specialist Dorsena Drakeford said Sunday. "Any timeline to reopen will be dependent on what happens," she said. "We're tentatively saying through the end of the year. For right now, I'm not sure if opening back up will be blanket across all buildings. We are still expecting a case surge. We're already in one right now." In addition to MetroHealth Medina Health Center, 111 West Reagan Parkway, and MetroHealth Brunswick Health Center, 1299 Industrial Parkway North Suite 250, the list of closures also includes: MetroHealth Rocky River Medical Offices, 20575 Center Ridge Road Suite 500, Rocky River MetroHealth Brooklyn Health Center, 5208 Memphis Ave., Cleveland MetroHealth Lyndhurst Health Center, 29001 Cedar Road, Lyndhurst MetroHealth Behavioral Health Services, 2500 MetroHealth Drive, Cleveland State Road Family Practice, 12744 State Road, North Royalton Staff will be moved to other buildings for the duration of closings as patients can seek treatment in those locations or through telemedicine services, Drakeford said. "I don't know if more closings are possible, but we're obviously letting our patients know as soon as we know anything," she said. "They're being notified as quickly as possible to let them schedule a telehealth appointment or get in at another location." MetroHealth Medina Health Center opened in late 2018, the organization's second footprint in Medina County following establishment of its Brunswick facility in 2015.
