No injuries in York Township barn fire

YORK TWP. — A large barn and all hay stored inside were lost in a Monday afternoon fire in York Township. Just after 4 p.m., Erhart/York firefighters were called to the 3300 block of Abbeyville Road, where they found the barn engulfed in flames. Erhart/York Fire Chief Jason Creamer said the blaze had begun to threaten nearby buildings when rescue crews arrived at the scene. He said firefighters were then able to get it under control with no reported injuries to residents, firefighters or farm animals. A cause for the fire has not been specified. Erhart/York received mutual aid from the Valley City, Lafayette, Brunswick Hills, and Columbia Township fire departments. The Medina County Sheriff's Office, Medina Township police department, Ohio Highway Patrol, and Medina County Emergency Management Agency also provided assistance. Creamer extended well wishes to the family living on the Abbeyville Road property while also advising residents to check their smoke detectors and plan home fire escape routes.
