Volunteers from DecoCrete Supply spruce up Medina campground with free driveway

MEDINA — Eleven volunteers spent the weekend completing a number of community service projects at the Country Life Kids Camp, which was forced to change its model this summer when the coronavirus pandemic forced a shutdown. The volunteer project was the donation of DecoCRETE Supply, a decorative contract supplier with offices in Orrville, Cleveland and Columbus. The culmination of the work will be realized today after dye is washed from the camp's new driveway to reveal a reddish-aged cobblestone look. Country Life Kids Camp, 7003 W. Smith Road, is a local Medina nonprofit Christian youth summer day camp. In addition to the new driveway, volunteers spruced up the campgrounds by painting, weeding the garden areas and staining a rock-climbing wall. "Even during a pandemic, we are witnessing local businesses making an impact to serve, lead and inspire our local children's lives for years to come," Tina Bildstein, camp director, said in a statement. Bildstein said Country Life Kids Camp was unfortunately closed this summer due to the pandemic but expanded its services by launching a virtual summer camp to meet the needs of northeast Ohio families called, EDventurer's Club. Country Life Kids Camp will host live on-site field trips, summer camp and virtual camp sessions throughout in 2021. The camp traditionally offers sport instruction, athletic performance training, team-building challenges, hands-on STEAM labs, young naturalist programs, academic enrichment and Christian teachings in a summer camp environment.
