Mack's Food Center and Locker to reopen

HARRISVILLE TWP. — Nearly two years after it shut its doors, Mack's Food Center and Locker is reopening. Though there is currently no timeline for when the business, located at 9945 Greenwich Road, will officially do so, Mack's Facebook page confirmed it was finalizing its updates in preparation to reopen. That was refreshing news to the community and past customers as, four hours after the post was made, there were more than 450 reactions, more than 200 comments and more than 300 shares. The first news of Mack's reopening came in November 2019 when its Facebook page commented that it was "going to reopen, just working on the updates." Mack's closed in October 2018 due to a dispute with a lease agreement. The store first opened in 1947 under the ownership of Ted and Bobbie Mack as a full-service grocery store and butcher shop. Bobbie's sister Katie and her husband, Dave Vanni, joined the Mack's that same year. Mack's was known, in part, for its homemade smokies, beef jerky and sausages. It also offered processing for wild game such as deer, turkey, elk boar or moose. Following the death of Vanni in 2010, his son, John Vanni, took over with his wife, Patty Boesel. John Vanni died in March and John's brother Michael Vanni will take over as owner with Amber Hall becoming the manager.
