Garth Brooks drive-in concert coming to Wadsworth for one night

Garth Brooks is so popular that ticket demand to see his live show — even when presented virtually around the globe — brought down Ticketmaster computers. That's what happened last week when tickets went on sale for the country singer's Saturday show that will be viewed nationally at 300 drive-in theaters — including Wadsworth's Blue Sky Drive-In. The online issue has been fixed with fans of the No. 1-selling solo artist in U.S. history now able to purchase tickets, which are $100 per person. Interest appears to be high among fans looking to see the platinum-selling Music City legend — whose last Northeast Ohio appearance took place in October at the Dusty Armadillo in Rootstown — at the Medina County drive-in theater. "I am so excited to get to play again," Brooks said in a press release. "I have missed it so much and want to get back to it. "This drive-in concert allows us all to get back to playing live music without the uncertainty of what would be the result to us as a community. This is old school, new school and perfect for the time we are in." The exclusive drive-in concert adheres to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines — vehicle spacing, limited entering/exiting of a vehicle, window guidelines, personal protection equipment for staff and contactless payment and ticketing systems. Regarding concessions, ticket buyers are encouraged to download the concession app and online ticket purchase app. Each ticket admits one standard passenger car or truck (RVs and limousines not permitted). All guests must have a seatbelt with no more than six people per vehicle. Parking is based on a first-come-first-serve basis with gates expected to open an hour before the show. Unlike Brooks' hit song "Ain't Goin' Down ('Til the Sun Comes Up)," the show won't start until the sun goes down.
