Barry Eugene Rader

Barry Eugene Rader, 60, a longtime resident of Medina and most recently Santa Rosa Beach, Florida passed away Saturday, September 14, 2019 in Tallahassee, Florida surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. Barry was born January 11, 1959 in Fairview Park, to Eugene Rader and the late Shirley Rader (nee Smith).Barry graduated from Medina High School in 1976. He began his career proudly working for the Gerspacher family, being a part of constructing many of the buildings that stand in Medina to this day. Barry's career path changed in the eighties when he began helping families in the insurance business, where he met his loving wife Sandy at Monumental Life Ins. Barry and his wife, together ran a successful call center (Summit Media), where they sold publications to families throughout the nation. In the mid 2000's, Barry's entrepreneurship and passion for helping families led him back to the insurance world. Barry, along with his wife and two sons, began a very successful agency selling final planning insurance for Lincoln Heritage. This venture afforded him the opportunity to achieve his dream of moving his entire family to Florida, where they would live and work on the beach as a family.Barry's faith was a very important part of his life and he wholeheartedly served Medina United Methodist Church for many years, serving two terms as Board of Trustee's President. The Heart to Heart Sunday school class for individuals with Developmental Disabilities and the Christmas Production they performed was truly a labor of love for him. On Sunday mornings you would also hear Barry playing his guitar with the Praise Team. Barry served in many roles on the Emmaus Community and the prison ministry.Barry was proud to raise his two sons, Brad and Jake, in his hometown and was very involved in the YMCA Indian Guides he even became the Chief of their tribe. Coaching his sons and sponsoring several of their baseball teams was a yearly event and Barry served as the Commissioner of Medina Youth Baseball for numerous years as well. Barry enjoyed travel, boating motorcycling and Andy Griffith.Barry was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Louise Rader (nee Smith) and his sister, Belinda Sue Rader.Barry is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Rader of 33 years; his two sons, Brad (Katie) Rader, Jake (Kala) Rader; his father, Eugene Rader; sisters, Mary (Dave) Simmons, Lisa (Mitch) Manthey; brothers-in-law, Bill (Kelly) Frisky, Scott (Andie) Frisky; sister-in-law, Karen Frisky (Walter). Barry was a fun and loving uncle to 15 nieces and nephews. He had a huge extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.Family and friends will celebrate Barry's life and legacy on Saturday, October 5th, 2019 at Medina United Methodist Church, 4747 Foote Rd., Medina, OH 44256.
